Colonial had good prices compared to some of the other competitors I was looking at to move out of state so I chose them. The reps were extremely helpful, right to the point in answering my questions about what I was curious about, and they were very present every step of the move. I packed on my own and they helped bring the stuff from the apartment into the truck and then from the truck into the new place. They were easy to work with and I would recommend them, especially for long-distance moves.
I talked with one of Colonial’s representatives and asked about the general products, and from what location would we pick up, which location it’d be taken forward, and just a generalized itemization of what I was gonna be taking. By the time they showed up, we had a couple few extra items that weren’t marked. But the movers were very quick on the response on the inventory on that. They were absolutely fantastic. They got me there a day earlier than expected. They were super professional. They were about what Colonial was advertising for their pricing. Colonial did their job. They were cordial and consistent across the board. They were all extremely professional when it came to what they were knowledgeable about. If there was any extra fees, they were extremely transparent about it.
In May 2024 Colonial Van Lines moved me from California to Ohio. From my initial quote all the way through to unloading in OH I could not have been more pleased with every person, service and follow up each step of the way. I chose CVL after getting 7 different cross country mover quotes and CVL’s quote was one of the most reasonable which was based on inventory and the final cost based on actual weight. I was prepared for them to jack up the cost to the competitions’ higher initial quotes upon delivery but I was very happily surprised that they did not. I had a ton of questions throughout and they were all patiently and thoroughly answered making me more comfortable every step of the way. There were no hidden costs and everything that was told to me verbally was correct and clearly shown in the paperwork and contracts as the move progressed. I will recommend them to anyone I know making an interstate move.
The moving industry is saturated with numerous movers vying for your business, but not all of them may be licensed or operate consistently throughout the year. Some companies may initially appear to be legitimate but engage in irresponsible business practices, posing risks to consumers.
Additionally, inexperienced moving companies may lack a comprehensive understanding of the moving business, attempting to compete in areas like pricing, delivery, and packing without the necessary logistical expertise or resources for a successful move. To safeguard your interests, start by researching the company’s name and location through platforms like Google, ensuring they have current information. Check for indicators such as BBB ratings, customer reviews, licensing details, and any alternative names (DBAs). If uncertain, it’s advisable to contact your state attorney general’s office before providing any deposit or financial information.
We strongly recommend customers to utilize resources like the Department of Transportation’s website to verify the legitimacy and reliability of an interstate mover. Our priority is to ensure customers make informed choices, even if it means selecting another reputable mover over us, to avoid falling prey to non-established companies.
